The 2024 Wedding Trend You Never Knew You Needed… BOWS!

The 2024 Wedding Trend You Never Knew You Needed… BOWS!

As we enter 2024 wedding season, we here at The Ever After Club believe that one of the next big trends are Bows! Now we are bow girlies, but let me explain why we think they will be huge this year!

From minimalist accents to bold statements, bows are redefining bridal and groom attire, decorations, and even wedding invitations. We going to delve into the latest bow trends for weddings, and maybe offer some inspiration for couples looking to infuse their special day with a touch of elegance and personality.

Bridal Gowns

First up, bridal gowns are the centrepiece of wedding fashion, and bows are adorning these beauties is one way to incorporate bows into your wedding. Designers are innovatively incorporating oversized bows as focal points on the back of gowns, creating a dramatic and elegant silhouette. For the minimalist bride, small, delicate bows accentuate waistlines or shoulders, adding a subtle charm without overwhelming the dress's design. Whether they’re big floppy bows with long tails or tiny dainty bows, they add a girly, elegant touch to your dress!

Groom Attire

Grooms are not left behind in this bow renaissance. Bow ties, a classic accessory, are seeing a revival with a twist. Beyond the traditional black or navy, grooms are opting for bow ties in velvet, silk, and patterns that complement the wedding's colour scheme. Some daring grooms are even coordinating with the bridal party by incorporating bows into their boutonnieres or pocket squares, all adding a cohesive and stylish flair to their wedding attire.

Decor: From Subtle Accents to Grand Displays

Bows are weaving their magic into wedding decorations, transforming spaces into enchanting settings. Chair backs at the reception adorned with large, floppy and flowing bows in sheer fabrics add a romantic touch, while smaller bows can elegantly tie together napkins or mark guest seats at the ceremony.

Our personal favourites are using soft, velvety bows embroidered with either your guests initials or names in place of place or name cards, tying a bow to champagne glasses and attaching bows to your vow books (we can do this for you!) For outdoor weddings, bows are being used to decorate aisle markers or frame the altar, creating picturesque backdrops for the vows.

Invitations and Favours

The wedding theme starts with the invitation, and bows are making their mark here too. Satin or velvet bows add a tactile element to invitations, hinting at the elegance awaiting guests. Favours are also getting a bow makeover - a simple bow can elevate the presentation of a favour, transforming even the simplest of gifts into a memorable keepsake. Imagine a miniature bottle of tequila or a traditional bag of sugared almonds, tied with a teeny tiny, thin ribboned bow at the neck – dreamy!

Hair Accessories: A Romantic Touch

Bows have always had a place in bridal hair accessories, but they are now front and centre. Whether it's a bow-adorned headband, a delicate bow clip, or a satin ribbon tying a ponytail, these accessories add a whimsical, romantic touch to all bridal hairstyles. Bridesmaids can also adopt this trend, with matching or complementary bow accessories, adding another cohesive touch to your bridal party.

The Sentiment Behind Bows

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, bows carry a symbolism of unity and strength—tying the knot in a literal and figurative sense. This makes them a perfect motif for weddings, representing the bond between the couple. How romantic!

In conclusion, bows are versatile and timeless, and capable of adding a touch of elegance, whimsy, or boldness to a wedding, depending on the type and colour of the bow you chose. As we embrace the trends of 2024, it's clear that bows are not just a decorative element but a symbol woven into the very fabric of the celebration. Whether you're planning a grand affair or an intimate gathering, consider incorporating bow elements to add a layer of sophistication and charm to your special day.
